The thermocouple (temperature probe) can be replaced in case it has broken or you wish to use one with a different length wire or different style of probe. Only use thermocouples supplied by Geocene. We cannot guarantee the accuracy of an unapproved thermocouple. It may even cause damage to the device, voiding your warranty.
Open the case and remove the thermocouple wires from the terminal block as described in:
Loosen the nut that holds in the wire and slide it back from the case.
Gently slide the wire out of the case.
Take the nut off of the old wire and slide it on to the new wire in the same orientation.
Slide the new thermocouple wire back in to the case.
Secure the wires in the terminal block by holding down the two buttons with one hand and pushing the wires into the two holes with the other hand. Ensure that the red wire is in the hole labeled “+” and the white wire is in the hole labeled “–”.
Open the app and look for the device in the list. The badge should now be green and say “Running”. If you still see a red “Error” badge, the simpleSUM has a non-user-serviceable problem, please contact Geocene for help.
